In Seedlings, we have created a natural calm environment where children can explore, reflect and develop their natural curiosity.  Children are encouraged to be independent and self reliant through all activities.  All our approaches are based on research.

In Seedlings, children learn through:

Asking big questions and developing an awe and wonder of the world.  These questions are encouraged throughout the day but explored in more detail during circle time.

Us of real items for the children to explore, they do this because they are interested and curious and want to find out what things are.

Loose parts play which allows children to create their own farm, fire station, house, Castle, etc. using natural building resources.  This enables a child to be totally creative, using their imagination to build something unique that they can be proud of.  This approach is used indoors and outdoors.

Reading is a key focus in Seedlings.  We are always reading a book!  We link books to all our activities.  Here are just a few examples:  Dinosaur Roar, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, Handa's Surprise, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Each Peach Pear Plum.  When children enjoy language, they become strong learners throughout their life.

Rhyme time like reading is key to children gaining language that transfers into their talk, their writing and their life-long learning.  Children will learn rhymes every day and enjoy reciting them together.

Dough disco to develop fine motor skills.  children can exercise their fingers to make them strong for writing.

Gross motor development taught in regular PE sessions in the school hall, yoga, dancing, circle games and rhymes, parachute games, bike riding and running on the field.  These skills are paramount to develop the strength children need to start the pre-writing skills they need before starting school.

Languages are important throughout our academy and the children in Seedlings will experience regular French rhymes and start to understand that there are many languages spoken in the world.
